What makes Black Ring Ammunition different?
Black Ring ammunition is built around one goal: making the best bang-for-your-buck ammunition we can.
Years of load development, component testing, and extensive range validation have helped us create ammunition we’re proud to put our name on. We don’t just test on paper. We spend countless hours evaluating performance across different firearms, environmental conditions, and shooting applications to ensure reliability and consistency. Whether you’re plinking steel, shooting competition, training, or hunting, our goal is to provide dependable ammunition at a fair price.
Is your ammunition new or remanufactured?
All Black Ring ammunition is manufactured using new components. We do not sell remanufactured ammunition. Why? While quality remanufactured ammunition certainly has its place, many firearm manufacturers caution against its use and may limit or deny warranty coverage for damage attributed to reloaded or remanufactured ammunition. We choose to manufacture exclusively with new components because it allows us to maintain tighter control over every stage of the production process, from component selection and load development to quality control and performance testing. Through extensive component evaluation and countless hours of real-world testing across a variety of firearms and environmental conditions, we verify reliability, consistency, and performance before our ammunition ever reaches your hands. The result is ammunition we’re proud to put our name on and shooters can trust with confidence.

What components do you use?
We use high-quality components from trusted manufacturers including Hornady, Sierra, Hodgdon, Vihtavuori, CCI, and White River Energetics (WRE). While component selection may vary by product line and availability, our standards do not. Every component is selected for its proven reliability and consistency, then validated through extensive load development and range testing to ensure dependable performance in the field and on the range.
Do you test your ammunition?
Absolutely. Every load we produce undergoes extensive testing and validation before it is offered for sale. We use lab-grade chronographs to verify velocity and ensure our published specifications reflect real-world performance, not just ideal conditions.
Depending on the product line, we also conduct accuracy testing using a Ransom Rest, evaluate performance across multiple firearms, and monitor consistency from lot to lot. Our testing process includes load development, component evaluation, and real-world range validation in a variety of environmental conditions.
We believe confidence is earned, not claimed. That’s why we spend the time collecting data and verifying performance before a product ever receives the Black Ring name.
What is your quality control process?
Quality control starts before a single round touches our production loading press.
Incoming components are inspected and evaluated before entering production, and small-batch test loads are used to verify performance. Throughout the loading process, we perform regular spot checks every 100 to 200 rounds to monitor consistency and catch potential issues early.
Every finished round is then chamber-checked using case gauges and visually inspected before packaging. In addition, production lots are routinely sampled and measured to verify dimensional consistency and compliance with specifications. We believe quality cannot be inspected into a product at the end of the process, which is why we verify it every step of the way, from component selection to the finished cartridge.
What calibers do you currently offer?
We currently offer 50-round boxes and 1,000-round cases of 9mm ammunition in 124-grain and 147-grain target and subsonic loads. Coming soon, we will be expanding our lineup with .300 Blackout ammunition in 145-grain, 190-grain, and 220-grain loads, developed with the same commitment to affordability, reliability, and value that shooters have come to expect from Black Ring.
Do you offer hunting ammunition?
Our primary hunting load is the 190-grain .300 Blackout, which uses a bullet engineered to provide reliable expansion at subsonic velocities. It was developed specifically for hunters who want effective terminal performance from a subsonic .300 Blackout load.
While most of our current lineup is geared toward target shooting, competition, training, and general range use, hunting remains an important part of our long-term product development plans. We expect to introduce additional hunting-focused cartridge offerings in the near future, bringing the same emphasis on reliability, consistency, and value to hunters that we provide to recreational shooters today.
Will your ammunition run reliably in my firearm?
We design and test our ammunition with one goal in mind: dependable performance in real-world firearms. Every load is evaluated across multiple platforms before it is released for sale, and reliability is one of the most important factors in our testing process.
For most shooters using properly maintained, factory-configured firearms, our ammunition should function as intended. However, no ammunition manufacturer can guarantee flawless performance in every firearm, particularly where custom modifications, aftermarket components, unusual configurations, or maintenance issues are involved.
Our 9mm ammunition is designed for reliable operation in common handguns and pistol-caliber carbines. For .300 Blackout, reliability can vary more significantly depending on the firearm’s configuration, especially when shooting subsonic ammunition. We test extensively, but some rifles may require tuning to achieve the best possible results.
Do you sell bulk ammunition?
Yes. We sell pistol ammunition in 1,000-round cases and rifle ammunition in 500-round cases.
Available pack sizes may vary by product.
How should ammunition be stored?
Store ammunition in a cool, dry, dark place away from excessive heat and moisture.
A basement, cabinet, ammo can, or similar stable storage location is usually fine as long as it stays dry and protected from extreme temperature swings.
Can I use your ammunition with a suppressor?
Some of our ammunition is suppressor-friendly, especially loads specifically marked as subsonic.
Always test subsonic ammunition without the suppressor first. Some firearms, especially those with slower twist rates, may not properly stabilize heavy subsonic bullets. If you see keyholing, tumbling, or odd-shaped holes in the target, do not attach a suppressor. Firing unstable bullets through a suppressor can cause a baffle strike.
Loads not marked as subsonic may still be safe to shoot suppressed, but they may be louder or dirtier depending on the firearm and suppressor setup.
Do you publish velocity data?
Yes. Average velocity information is shown on product pages.
Velocity data for the specific lot you purchase may also be found on the box label. Every lot can vary slightly due to normal component lot differences.

How long does shipping take?
Most orders are processed and shipped within 48 hours of receipt. Once your order leaves our facility, delivery times are determined by the carrier and may vary. Tracking information will be provided as soon as your order ships.
Do you accept returns or exchanges?
Due to the nature of ammunition, we generally do not accept returns.

What should I do if I have an issue with my order or ammunition?

We will do everything we reasonably can to understand the issue, help identify the cause, and make sure you are satisfied after doing business with us.
Can I contact you with questions about a firearm or load?
Absolutely. We are happy to answer questions about our products and help customers understand the features and intended applications of our ammunition.
While we can provide information about our ammunition and our testing process, questions regarding firearm-specific compatibility, maintenance, and modification questions are best directed to your firearm manufacturer or a qualified gunsmith.
Do I need to be 21 to buy ammunition from Black Ring?
Yes. You must be at least 21 years old to purchase ammunition from Black Ring.
By placing an order, you certify that you meet all legal requirements to purchase and possess ammunition.
Am I responsible for knowing whether ammunition is legal in my area?
Yes. The buyer is responsible for knowing and following all federal, state, and local laws.
Black Ring maintains a list of states and areas we do not ship to. If you are located in a restricted area and still want access to our products, have your local FFL contact us about carrying Black Ring.
Do you require a signature on delivery?
A signature is not always required, but we strongly recommend it.
Some shipments over certain dollar amounts may require a signature due to courier rules.
